Flagstaff, AZ

Last weekend Trent and I went to Flagstaff, AZ for a night.
We stopped by a festival/fundraiser which was actually the reason we went. Our boss who owns Western River Expeditions, the river company that we worked for in Moab was performing there with his band. Flagstaff is a really awesome mountain town that you would never think was in AZ. It is even weirder that Sedona is 20 min south... so in that space of time you go from this to this I found this American Idol auditions on somebody else's blog... I know that he practices in front of the mirror in his bedroom, probably with some type of appropriate costume on.

Your tights don't impress me much

This is something that has been bugging me for awhile. I keep seeing these mormon girls that try to make something not so modest, modest. I think it is really funny... and tacky. While in Utah, and especially Provo once, where we stopped on our way home for some Cafe Rio, I see girls wear denim mini skirts with opaque tights, thinking this makes the skirt modest. Well, that's fine... but not when I can see your garment line through the tights. I came across the funniest blog that wrote about this. Try to read some of his other entries too...

Valentines Day

For Valentines weekend Trent and I headed up to Utah and faced bad road conditions through central Utah, it sucked. But we made it safe and for dinner Valentines Day we ate out at Hamiltons in Logan with Shane and Lexie. It was delish! and I ran into one of my best friends that I haven't seen in forever! Sunday night we stayed at The Providence Inn Bed and Breakfast in Cache Valley:We stayed in the Grand Canyon suite which was ginormous. Trent planned this and thought it was a themed room like The Anniversary Inn, but come to find out, it is only the Grand Canyon room cause of a picture they have hanging. Our breakfast hit the spot.
We headed home Monday and it was clear skies til Cedar, then it got a little scary again, but we made it home safe.

Things to Love

Why I love Trent:

  • Last night he made me dinner: lemon pepper seasoned chicken, baby carrots with peanut sauce, grapes (totally a Trent thing to add to dinner), marie calender corn bread, and corn on the cob with lemon and salt (SO GOOD... you do not even know) I think I will have corn on the cob again tonight. oh, and salad, but I couldn't eat it cause I threw some up for lunch yesterday.

Love

Why I love Trent:

  • This morning, I went into the closet to find clothes to wear and he came in and said, "Today is jeans day at work, so I picked out this outfit for you." He takes such good care of me.

  • This morning, as he was leaving for work, he yelled, "I love you... and there's nothing you can do about it!!"

  • We were "conserving water" this morning, and I got out of the shower first and asked if he got a towel out for himself or if I could use it and he started singing, "What's mine___ is yours___ and what's yours___ is mine, the more___ we share___ the more your gonna get!!"

Things to love:

  • Costco runs
  • Prayer
  • fixing my laptop by myself and not spending a penny
  • Anthropologie
  • tv shows online
  • birds chirping
  • summer
  • Disneyland

Doc Appointment

I had my appointment with the specialist today... everything looks good, except for the fact that the baby is missing a penis.
That's right folks... we're having a little princess!! I am only 13 1/2 weeks but the ultrasound was 4D so we get to find out sooner! I just have to laugh... it would have been perfect to a have a boy, so of course, we are having a girl! and I'm scared!
We are really excited, especially Trent!
So the whole brain thing looks fine but I will be going back again in 7 weeks to triple check!
Oh and I really should post these ultrasound pics cause I am not kidding when I say maybe we need to start saving up for a nose job for our little girl cause she is looking like chicken little! It is hilarious, hope it's just the angle! We also had a great Valentines Day... I will post later!

Thought this day would never come!

I am gonna be saying that a few more times this year...
We FINALLY had our first doctors appointment... I can't tell you how frustrated I was getting at seeing ultrasound pictures on other people's blogs saying they FINALLY had a doctors appt yet they were 6 or 8 weeks. Whatever, I'm over it cause we finally had ours!!
The Basics:
First: I am really pregnant! Yes, I was worried she was gonna say, "What are you talking about? You're not even pregnant."
Second: My due date is August 22. (I can't tell you how much I was hoping to be just a week farther along.. I am in Vegas, it will be the summer... oh, and I am excited.)
Third: I peed in a cup and I'm not getting any better at it. I can go into details if you like...

The measurements are coming in at 13,2 to 12,4 so she is saying I am 12 1/2 weeks but that could change! She did an ultrasound and we got to see our little peanut... although he/she isn't a peanut anymore, he/she is a lime! Well, lengthwise, and about a 1/4 of a pound! We also got to hear the heartbeat, 168, which is great! YAY! It is weird to be the one getting the ultrasound, to be the one that is pregnant, instead of hearing about someone else being pregnant. So exciting!

Now for the bad news... don't worry, it isn't too bad. From one angle, the brain looks like it has a little more black around it than it should, which means there could be extra fluid. She kept looking from different angles and she did the down there ultrasound to have a better look and it looks fine, it is just from the one picture it looked funny. So, if there ends up being extra fluid around the brain then when the babe is born they have to put a shunt in the brain to drain the fluid into the stomach, which will absorb it. I am not worried at all, it is so early that it could absorb it on its own, or it could be nothing cause it was just the one image! I am getting a second look in the next week and they will use 4D ultrasound so we may be able to tell what the sex is at 14 weeks.... lucky!

Also, the doctor said I should have no problems breast feeding... this has been a concern of mine since I got a breast reduction a couple years ago. My plastic surgeon said I should be able to even though I haven't really gotten feeling back, but it was good to hear it from someone else. I guess it will be pretty lucky cause I won't have the pain normal breastfeeding moms do!!

Now, for all you moms or pregnant moms... how far along were you when you first felt a little kick?

Family Gems

I get these quotes emailed to me by "Family Gems". I think I signed up for it through the church website. This is the one I got today:
Parents Should Lovingly Correct a Child’s Actions
“When a child needs correction, you might ask yourself, ‘What can I say or do that would persuade him or her to choose a better way?’ When giving necessary correction, do it quietly, privately, lovingly, and not publicly. If a rebuke is required, show an increase of love promptly so that seeds of resentment may not remain. To be persuasive, your love must be sincere and your teachings based on divine doctrine and correct principles.”
Russell M. Nelson, “Salvation and Exaltation,” Ensign, May 2008, 9-10
Everyday I think about the kind of mom I am going to be, and the best way to go about handling different situations. I am pretty sure in 20 years I still won't have it all figured out, but I can tell you I won't be one of those mom's screaming at their kids and gritting their teeth in Target cause they keep putting crap in the cart and whining. That is the beauty of being almost the oldest in such a large family, you can tune out anything!
Anyway, I am just glad that we recieve counsel from the church on virtually anything we may struggle with.

What kind of sick pleasure do people who make computer viruses get?

Our laptop has "corruption caused by a virus". The computer turns on just fine, our saved files, such as photos open just fine. But when we try to open Internet Explorer the window flashes open for a brief second then disappears. We tried to open up our firewall or whatever it is protection program and it does the same thing. Does anybody know of some program or something we can buy and load on ourselves and fix the problem without taking it into a shop?!?!? Anything you say will be news to us and helpful since this is all we know!! HELP!!
