The Home Stretch

In honor of Isla and I officially making it into the 3rd trimester this Saturday, I thought I would post on the progress she has made:

  • Approximately 14 1/2 inches long
  • About 2 lbs in weight
  • I first felt 2 little kicks the night before I turned 14 weeks
  • She's been doing somersaults and kickboxing ever since
  • She really likes to fly (I discovered this weekend)
  • She will kick and kick and kick but as soon as her daddy touches my stomach she stops cause she just loves him (but I think it is a little disappointing for him.)
  • As far as we can tell, she is perfectly healthy!

Happy 28 weeks as a fetus Birthday, Princess.

The Baby Shower

Over the weekend I went up to Utah for a baby shower my mom was throwing for me... it was so nice!! The best part was seeing friends and family! And, also my favorite part was flying up! SO MUCH better than driving! Even though I missed my flight and had to pay for a whole new one... That sucked, but I made it! My mom and Karen did such a great job!

Re: The Joys of Pregnancy

Today was fun. I lost my mucos plug and then I thought I was leaking amniotic fluid. I hurried to the doctors office and got examined (which felt really good) and found out, everything should be fine and it doesn't look like I am leaking fluid. Apparently, I just have an unusually high amount of swass today. HEY, you know what? I live in Vegas and it was 100 degrees at least today... Back Off.

How can I possibly feel comfortable admitting this on a blog that has been viewed thousands of times, you ask? I don't know.

After we got done at the doctors, my dad took me out to lunch then I went home... but not before stopping at Blockbuster. I am beginning to think this was all just a blessing in disguise :)

See ya later

Trent and I are leaving for 4 whole days tonight... see you next week sometime. I'm in no hurry to get back.

Things to Love

  • Clearance Sales... and adding up your savings afterwards, that is my favorite part! This week, I heard about a store online having a sale. I got $621 worth of clothes (not including shipping or tax) for $66 including shipping and tax!!! I know... HOLY CRAP! Also, today, I bought little princess 5 clothing pieces for $14, regularly it would have cost $50... YAY! (from Target). Oh, and the store I got the other stuff at is http://www.tulle4us.com/. The sale was only going til the 7th but I think they are cleaning out their warehouse, so if they have anything left, it was all under $7!

  • ROAD TRIPS, or rather, getaways... I cannot tell you how excited Trent and I are for our weekend away starting in T-minus 3 Hours and 4 minutes.

  • A/C... I am starting to understand the "pregnant ladies don't cool down well" thing.

  • http://www.ldsjournal.com/, check it out, it's really neat. I started keeping one to document everything Isla for her to have later. I plan to make one for each of our kids.

  • This camera. It takes pictures like this: I want it really bad.
  • watching my stomach move as she kicks

Why I love Trent: That's none of your beeswax. ;)

Black Bean Chili

Last night I made this really good, easy, (this is the only chili I have ever made that didn't come out of a can, go into a bowl, and get nuked in the microwave... so seeing as how it was from "scratch" in my opinion it was easy) Black Bean Chili, and it wasn't until I was thinking how flavorful it was that I realized how HEALTHY it is... so I thought I would share.

You Poo-tahns need to hurry and make it while you have rain this week!

4 teaspoons olive oil
1 medium onion, chopped
4 garlic cloves, minced
2 teaspoons ground cumin
1 can (4 1/2 ounces) chopped green chiles
2 cans (15 ounces each) black beans, drained and rinsed
2 cans (14 1/2 ounces each) diced tomatoes
Salt
1 package (10 ounces) frozen corn
Directions
In a large saucepan, heat oil over medium heat. Add onion; cook until softened, 5 to 6 minutes. Add garlic and cumin; cook, stirring often, until fragrant, about 2 minutes more.
To the pan, add chiles, beans, tomatoes and their juice, 2 cups water, and 3/4 teaspoon salt. Bring mixture to a boil; reduce heat to medium-low, and simmer, partially covered, until slightly thickened, about 20 minutes.
In a blender or food processor, puree 2 cups of the stew. Return the puree to the pan, and add frozen corn; simmer until heated through, about 5 minutes. Serve hot.

Trent made Marie Callender cornbread as a side and it was good!
It brought back a memory of when Trent made me chili when we were dating. He pretty much poured some beans in a pot with a GIANT bottle of spaghetti sauce, it was so disgusting.

Is this normal?

I was just wondering... when you were pregnant, did you have a hard time getting a full breath of air ever? It happened to me first like a month ago then didn't happen much for a while then started again Friday and I have had it on and off again since then and all day today. This isn't like I climbed a flight of stairs and I am out of breath. It's like I am sitting at my desk and all of a sudden I have a hard time getting a full breath of air when I breath in, like I am sick and there is crap in my lungs or something. It is the same way I feel every time I get sick with a cold, except that I am not sick or getting sick. Does that sound familiar to you? I have a doctors appointment on Wednesday and I am wondering if I should bring it up...

Things to Love

  • A stocked refridgerator
  • Our ward... we love it more and more as we get to know people!
  • Being able to buy movie tickets at Costco for $7.50 each since one movie ticket here costs $10.00 - $15.00 depending on the theater.
  • When the week goes by fast!
  • Palmers spray for itchy, dry pregnancy skin... actually, I haven't used it yet cause I bought it today but I am sure it will be great!
  • S'mores
  • breezy spring nights
  • service
  • artichokes

Why I love Trent: I am looking forward to going home and he is going to massage my calf that has been hurting all day like a growing pain. I have been getting really bad charlie horses in the same calf in the middle of the night... sometimes I get really bad ones that leave my calf sore for a couple days... so weird! and then we are going to a movie as bf/gf.
